Schultz Fine Homes: Sustainable Building
The energy used in homes nationwide accounts for 16 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. At Schultz & Associates, we have committed to building a majority of our homes as ENERGY STAR homes. We feel good about our decision and commitment to ENERGY STAR and you will feel good about your new home.

To earn the ENERGY STAR, a home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20–30% more efficient than standard homes.

A Schultz & Associates ENERGY STAR home includes a variety of 'tried-and-true' energy-efficient features that contribute to improved home quality and homeowner comfort, and to lower energy demand and reduced air pollution:

  • 1. Effective Insulation
Schultz & Associates incorporates cutting edge insulation including closed cell spray foam, high-density batt insulation and cellulose insulation. Our inspection process ensures the insulation is properly installed in all of our floors, walls and attics. This process ensures even temperatures throughout the house, reduced energy use, and increased comfort. We insulate every interior wall, which reduces noise transmission throughout the house.
  • 2. High-Performance Windows
Schultz & Associates selects only energy-efficient windows to help keep heat in during winter and out during summer. Quality windows are one of the most important energy savers.
  • 3. Tight Construction and Ducts
Schultz & Associates strives to build the tightest homes by sealing holes and cracks in the home's "envelope." Additionally, our ductwork is sealed to reduce drafts, moisture, dust, pollen, and noise. We build our homes tight to increase comfort while reducing utility costs.
  • 4. Efficient Heating Equipment
Every Schultz & Associates home incorporates energy-efficient heating systems. Our energy-efficient heating systems are quieter, energy efficient, and improve the overall comfort of the home.
  • 5. Efficient Products
Schultz & Associates selects ENERGY STAR qualified products — lighting fixtures, compact fluorescent bulbs, ventilation fans, and appliances, such as refrigerators, dishwashers, and washing machines.
  • 6. Third-Party Verification
An independent Home Energy Rater inspects every Schultz and Associates home. We conducts onsite testing and inspections to verify the energy efficiency measures, as well as insulation, air tightness, and duct sealing details.
